Buying a Home Mortgage Loan Information Checklist |

When you're buying a home, mortgage lenders will require certain information from you to verify your income, employment, liabilities, and credit history. To make the process as smooth as possible, please be prepared with the following:
- Social Security number of borrower and co-borrower
- Income tax statement and copy of W-2 for previous year (2 years if self-employed)
- Names and addresses of employers for past four years, including the person to whom employment verification information should be directed
- Account numbers and balances for:
- Checking accounts
- Savings accounts
- Paid accounts, if you've recently paid off a major loan such as automobile, home improvement, etc.
- Account numbers for other assets, including:
- Retirement funds
- Profit-sharing
- Life insurance cash values
- Stocks and bonds with identification numbers
- Other similar assets.
- Rental/lease agreements on any rental properties you own
- Current credit cards and balances
- Information on current or previous mortgages, including loan number and name and address of mortgage company
- If divorced, information on child support or alimony paid or received
- If applying for a VA loan, your DD-214 Discharge Paper and Certificate of Eligibility.
- Evidence of other income, such as Social Security, pension, or VA compensation
- Your address history for the past two years
